Pangolin-9.jpg

I had spent several hours photographing elephants crossing Botswana's Chobe river to feed on some of the islands' lush grasses one afternoon when a storm rapidly moved in. The elephants were keen to return to the mainland but instead of photographing them in the water, I realised the shafts of light piercing through the clouds would create a magical landscape. Fortunately in front of the large herds was a lone bull giving me the opportunity to create a poignant image that is appropriate for one of Africa's most persecuted animals.
