I had followed this pride of lion for a previous project over a 2 year period and had come to learn their behaviour quite well. When I returned to Savute, some time later, I found them one morning being particularly playful. Spying a couple of young francolins up ahead, I manoevred to give myself space, knowing that their energetic mood might lead them to chase the birds. Fortunately, one female ran directly towards me, giving me just a couple of seconds to capture the scene.
