I arrived at this waterhole intending to photograph the elephants at night so I was delighted to find this male lion guarding the water, wiht the bulls in the background. Exposing for the sky, I lit up the lion with a narrow burst of flas, fortunately just as a flock of sandgrouse took off from the far side of the water.
